During the summer of 2008, Dvir Weiss became Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El’s Director of Administration and Security. Dvir has been a member of the TKAE family since 2005 when he joined us as our Director of Security, in 2006 adding Operations to his responsibilities.
Together with local law enforcement agencies and the Jewish Federation of Broward County, Dvir established the Secure Zone Program throughout the tri-county area. The Secure Zone is a communication system portal within the Jewish community, whereby representatives from participating organizations (regardless of affiliation) have the ability to immediately share information regarding security issues pertinent to the Jewish community.
Dvir moved to the United States from Israel in 2002. Dvir’s experience in security began in a special intelligence unit in the Israel Defense Force. Upon leaving the IDF, Dvir studied electrical engineering and continued his education in the United States and received his degree from the University of Miami, College of Engineering in 2005. After moving to the U.S., Dvir began working with a local security firm who has a special Israeli Unit specializing in safety and security for Jewish institutions, Temples and schools. Dvir and his wife Sharon live in the Hollywood area with their two children, 4 year old Inbar, 2 year old Ofir (who both attend TKAE’s Early Childhood Program), and their dog, Red.
