My name is Charley Smith and I will be serving as the Youth Director at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El effective immediately. I am originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota where I was involved in a variety of Jewish organizations including USY, summer camps and attended Jewish Day School until 8th grade. Upon graduation from high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I graduated with degrees in Jewish Studies and Hebrew. After finishing up my undergraduate degrees, I spent time living in Tel Aviv where I met my fiancée, Sheera. For the past year, I was living in Jerusalem where I began Rabbinical Studies at Hebrew Union College. After a great deal of thought, I decided that my skills would be best put to use educating and instilling Jewish values in the Youth of our people, which brought me to South Florida and Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El. I’m a young adult who likes to joke around, travel and generally have a fantastically fun time and I want to share that with the Youth here at Kol Ami.
