Descendant of generations of Cantors, Mark Goldman is a native of London, England. He pursued Cantorial studies as well as a B.A. (Honors) degree in Judaic Studies at the London School of Jewish Studies. He is the youngest ever recipient of certification by the Chief Rabbi of The United Kingdom.
In a desire to further his professional goals, Cantor Goldman accepted a call to Temple Beth El in Rochester, N.Y. In addition to his Cantorial responsibilities, Mark attended the internationally acclaimed Eastman School Of Music where he gained a Master Of Music degree in Performance and Literature.
Cantor Goldman has served our congregation since 1995. He is responsible for and oversees our Bar and Bat Mitzvah program, our Cultural Arts and Special Events Series, Continuing Education, Children and Adult bands and choirs, Adult B'not Mitzvah, and all musical programming pertaining to our congregation. He is also involved in Fundraising and Development, co-chairing our 36th Year Anniversary celebrations and fundraising initiative.
Cantor Goldman has produced and sung in a series of three CD's for our congregation encompassing Shabbat, the Festivals, and the High Holidays. He has performed in concerts in the United States, England and Israel as well as being a featured artist at numerous regional and national biennials.
Most recently, Mark was selected as one of 20 cantors from North America to sing in a concert of Jewish music at the Vatican.
A dedicated and involved member of the American Conference of Cantors since 1995, Cantor Goldman was elected as a member of the executive board in 2006 and has served as a Vice President of the ACC since 2007.
Mark and his partner, Aaron Taber, enjoy travel, the arts, and spending time with friends & family.
